Today our palm oil milling equipment can be found throughout the oil room. Designed with over a century of separation technology expertise, we offer state-of-the-art decanter and disc stack centrifuges optimized for mills, as well as ...
Opportunities and Challenges of Microalgal Cultivation
South East Asia dominates the production of palm oil worldwide. During the traditional wet processing, palm oil mill effluent (POME) wastewater is generated which poses serious environmental problems. Wastewater treatment using microalgae was initiated recently because of the advantages to lower nutrient content efficiently while the biomass can be utilized as bulk biomass or value added ...
The production of palm oil has increased dramatically over the last five decades, with a projected USD 88 billion worth by 2022.1 Palm oil has advantages over other vegetable oils: (1) superior shelf life of the final products of up to 12 months, (2) the presence of natural antioxidants, tocopherol, and tocotrienols, which contribute to high oxi...
Oil palm production efficiency compared to other major oil crops
Context 1 ... oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) could be the best choice among the various plant biomasses for renewable energy production due to the intensive development in palm-oil production...
The integrated zero-waste oil palm processing strategy will simultaneously increase revenue and improve the sustainability of the oil palm industry. In the zero-waste oil palm processing strategy, the by-products generated during oil palm mill processing become resources for other processes and thus, waste is eliminated.
Effects of operational processes and equipment in palm oil mills
The characteristics of Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) is a crucial factor affecting the yield and quality of biogas produced from anaerobic digestion. Hence, it is essential to understand how the operational processes and equipment in palm oil mills can affect POME characteristics and subsequently, biogas production efficiency.
An enhanced utilization of solid and liquid wastes from palm oil milling processes for power generation is proposed and evaluated. The proposed system consists of EFB gasification, POME digestion, and additional ORC modules. A cogeneration system, producing both electricity and heat, produces syngas and biogas from both modules.
Energy analysis for efficient mechanisation of palm oil extraction
Abstract Challenges related to sustainability, energy access, process efficiency, and cost of production in the extraction of palm oil make its energy analysis necessary in Ghana. This study determined the energy consumption patterns in palm oil mills in Ghana to ultimately enhance system efficiency and assess optimum production costs.
In light of this, introduction of a new national bioenergy policy is proposed, through which four essential programmes could be implemented: (i) enhanced bioenergy conversion efficiency and waste management, (ii) biomass co-firing in coal power plants, (iii) conversion of biogas to biomethane and bio-compressed natural gas (bio-CNG), (iv) large-...
