CRUDE PALM KERNEL OIL (CPKO) | Ariyan International Inc.
Crude Palm Kernel Oil (CPKO) is a light yellow crude oil, extracted from the palm kernels, containing mainly Lauric acid, Palmitic acid and Oleic acid. It is an edible plant oil which derived from the kernel of the oil palm has unique strong taste and smell. It is commonly used in commercial cooking because of its relatively low cost.
The oil content of palm kernel is around 50%~55%. Fresh palm kernel oil is edible. Its high stability, free of cholesterol, free of trans fatty acids make it particularly popular in frying use and are good for human health.

Palm and Palm Kernel Oil Production and Processing in Nigeria
Palm oil and palm kernel oils are produced in Nigeria from three production systems: natural/semi natural groves, smallholders, and small/medium sized estates and large estates. The groves are characterized by varied planting population from between 10–40 palms per hectare and 120–200 palms per hectare ( Omoti, 2009 ).
The midstream business operates via a global network to refine CPO and crude palm kernel oil (CPKO). The scale of our operations ensures a reliable supply of raw materials. We also have our own ships, tankers plus storage facilities to distribute the refined products to global destinations.

Palm olein is a resulting liquid fraction from fractionation of palm oil with a relatively high oleic acid content of about 41.5–47.7 % and is more cost-effective compared to commercial oleic acid as a high proportion of palm olein can be obtained in one single step of fractionation (Derawi et al., 2014; Gibon, 2012; Tarmizi and Ismail, 2008).

A palm oil mill produces crude palm oil and kernels as primary products and biomass as secondary product. The capacity of mills varies between 60-100 tons FFB/h. A typical mill has many operation units as shown in Figure 2. This comprises sterilization, stripping, digestion and pressing, clarification, purification, drying and storage.
